AR’s Breakfast and Brunch
Mexican-style brunch restaurant opening a new Johnson County location in Leawood’s Park Place, taking over the former Mother Clucker chicken restaurant space. Owner Oscar Romero is aiming to open at the end of June 2026. Menu features horchata waffles, chilaquiles, churro pancakes, Mexican skillets, fajita omelets, and oversized mimosas.
Smoothie King
Smoothie King is opening a new location in west Topeka at 2121 SW Wanamaker Rd. The location is currently being set up and is slated to open by August 15, 2026. The chain is based in New Orleans and operates hundreds of locations nationwide, offering smoothies, sports beverages, and energy bars.

99-room, 4-story Holiday Inn Express & Suites opening at the Bluhawk mixed-use development, adjacent to AdventHealth Sports Park. Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts brand. Developed by Price Brothers (Kansas City). Two additional hotels planned for the site once next retail phase wraps up in spring 2027. Property targets youth sports travelers and event visitors.

Mexican restaurant owned by brothers Adrian and Odiom Gutierrez, former food truck owners. Will serve breakfast and lunch weekdays, plus dinner on weekends. Opening day menu includes carnitas, mole, chile rellenos, and free dessert for visitors.
