Small Florida businesses have been hammered with higher costs recently. The rapidly rising cost of fuel is bound to affect every product and service needed at some point. One area hit extremely hard since January 1, 2012 has been employee costs, more specifically payroll! Since January 1 cost have risen in workers comp (mandated by NCCI), SUTA or state unemployment tax and FUTA (Federal unemployment tax). These 3 items alone have probably caused a 2% increase for payroll cost in Florida.

Although business is paralyzed to do anything directly to reduce these costs there is something you can do. Payroll, PEO & Employee Leasing companies also live and die by the cost of these items as well. However, many of these groups have been very shrude and have adapted and have been able to mitigate the rising costs for their service. On the other hand some of them have their hands tied with the same problems as other Florida businesses and can do nothing about the rising cost.

What can you do? Just as you do for all your products and services GET QUOTES! There are a lot of good companies who have managed their costs better than others so you need to shop them out. Whether it's a cup or bowl, side or entree, 62 percent of consumers now order soup at least occasionally during restaurant visits, up from 43 percent just two years ago. Salads have also increased, 76 percent of consumers now occasionally purchase salad away from home compared to 66 percent.
