Thursday, 02 May 2013 11:46 |
Post-gazette - Two Indiana County men are in jail today, charged in connection with a restaurant robbery that was thwarted by some patrons.
State police at Indiana said Jeremia Fromme, 22, of Ernest, and Adam Wilson, 26, of Indiana are in the Indiana County Jail. Mr. Fromme is to be charged with robbery, theft, simple assault and conspiracy. Mr. Wilson will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and theft.
Police said the incident began to unfold at 2:50 p.m. Saturday at King Buffet on Oakland Avenue in White, just outside the borough of Indiana.
Police said Mr. Fromme, accompanied by Mr. Wilson, entered the restaurant then placed a hand-written note on a counter, demanding money. When a 17-year-old employee hesitated, police said Mr. Fromme lifted his shirt, revealing an item that the employee believed was a gun. The employee turned over money to Mr. Fromme from the cash register.
As Mr. Fromme and Mr. Wilson attempted to leave the restaurant, they were tackled by patrons as well as the owners of the restaurant, police said.
When police arrived, the pair were taken to the barracks where police said they confessed.

Orlando-area residents have recently sampled new Chick-fil-A salads, a healthy Cracker Barrel menu and Red Lobster's pay-at-the-counter option before most other American diners.
New products or menus often are tried out in Orlando because it's a big city filled with chains, a diverse population and millions of annual visitors. It is also home to several national and regional restaurant companies, which like to test close to corporate headquarters. Continue |

But there’s a good chance Tebow will be back in Northeast Florida by summer’s end — sort of.

The fact that a Chipotle already has opened in Viera pleased him more because he could partake in his chosen pleasure that much sooner.

Thursday, 02 May 2013 11:02 |
Orlandosentinel.com - This summer, wine enthusiasts could notice lower prices and more choices when they turn to the by-the-glass list at their favorite restaurants. All it will take is the Florida Senate to pass the companion bill that already has sailed through the House allowing wine to be sold in kegs to restaurants.
Florida and Utah are the only states that bar the stainless-steel kegs, which dispense the equivalent of about 26 bottles of wine — or roughly 130 glasses. The process is used by some of the top wineries, including Bonny Doon, Au Bon Climat and Gallo.
Whether it's the Darden chains or bistros such as K Restaurant Wine Bar in College Park, restaurateurs are waiting to see what happens. Continue |
